Ballwin, MO has repeatedly been recognized as one of the best places to live in the country for many reasons. One of the best things about living here is the proximity to a wide variety of outdoor activities. If you are tired of spending so much time inside but wondering what would be worth your time, consider hopping in your 2024 Subaru Impreza and trying out one of the following activities.

1. Mountain Biking at Castlewood State Park

One great outdoor activity you can enjoy is mountain biking at Castlewood State Park at 1401 Kiefer Creek Road. In this state park, you can find eight mountain biking trails, including Al Foster Trail, Riverscene Trail, and Stinging Nettle Trail. One of our favorite trails is the Castlewood Loop Trail, traversing old farmland and skirting along Lincoln Beach’s edge.

This 2.8-mile trail can be accessed from Chubb Trail and is great for mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. What we love most about this loop trail is its seclusion. It is perfect for wildlife viewing and bird watching.

2. Visiting Saint Louis Zoo

You can also have a lot of fun visiting the Saint Louis Zoo at 1 Government Drive. This zoo features 500 animal species and 16,000 animals, including invertebrates, fish, and mammals. If you have limited time, we highly recommend checking out the River’s Edge zone first. It is an immersion exhibit that showcases animals from four continents. Exhibits you can find in the River’s Edge zone include:

  • Africa Nile
  • Africa Savanna
  • Asia
  • North America
  • South America

3. Exploring Gateway Arch National Park

Finally, we recommend exploring Gateway Arch National Park. Parking is available at 200 S Broadway, and there is also parking at 50 S. Leonor K Sullivan Blvd. for the Riverboats at the Gateway Arch. We recommend taking a tram to the top of the Gateway Arch and taking stunning photos of the Mississippi River, Missouri, and Illinois. If the day is clear, you can see up to 30 miles east or west.

If you opt for the Tram Ride to the Top tour, you will be guided through an interactive educational experience. We also recommend taking a St. Louis Riverfront Cruise while you’re in the area. This one-hour riverboat tour provides an awe-inspiring perspective of the Gateway Arch and downtown St. Louis.

There are plenty of outdoor adventures you can go on with a trusty Subie. However, to keep your car running strong, you need to bring it in regularly for maintenance. If you’ve put at least 5,000 miles on your car, schedule a service appointment with us today at Dean Team Subaru
