The 2019 Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment Award

What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

Subaru Delivers Warmth to Cardinal Glennon  –  Debbie K

On Monday June 24th, the Gateway Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society along with Phillip Dean and Matthew Kuhn of Dean Team Subaru had the pleasure of delivering 80 blankets, 10 craft kits and messages of hope to the patient staff at Cardinal Glennon. Ryan Jennings, Community Outreach Coordinator at Cardinal Glennon, accepted the generous delivery on behalf of the young patients at the hospital. LLS is proud to partner with Subaru to spread hope, love and warmth to those fighting cancer, across the country and right here in the St. Louis community.

Subaru Helps Children Reach Their Full Potential  –  Chris K

Children need hope, understanding, and compassion to learn and reach their full potential. St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) helps children by giving them the support and education necessary to succeed. Dean Team Subaru has partnered with St. Louis LDA for the last 7 years, and during that time we have received a total of $89,693.25 in contributions from Subaru of America. With Subaru’s generosity, we have nearly doubled our interactions through our programs since 2013. In 2018, we had 50,546 interactions with 7,612 children, parents, and educators—helping children discover their strengths, overcome obstacles to learning, and reach their full potential both personally and academically. St. Louis LDA also provided $334,013 in services to the community through need-based financial aid and reduced rates. Dean Team Subaru’s partnership has made it possible for hundreds of students to get the help they need through programs such as Personalized Tutoring and Cognitive Educational Evaluations. One parent recently shared, “My son has gained so much self-esteem, enjoys learning new things, and is so much more focused on homework. I’ve seen so much growth in him and his attitude and ability with school. Thank you!” A student remarked, “St. Louis LDA has given me skills to study and organize. Tutoring helps me absorb all of the information I need to understand concepts well. It is a great program, and if anyone ever needs extra help, LDA is the place to go!” We are so grateful to Dean Team and Subaru of America for helping St. Louis area children learn, develop, and achieve!

Subaru & LLS Deliver Blankets to Cardinal Glennon  –  Debbie K

Matt Kuhn and Phillip Dean, Dean Team Subaru, met Debbie Kersting, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), at Cardinal Glennon Hospital to deliver blankets for young cancer patients on Monday, June 18th. Ryan Jennings, of the Cardinal Glennon Foundation, greeted everyone and graciously accepted the delivery on behalf of the hospital. While the group was not able to deliver the blankets directly to the patients, they had an informative and meaningful conversation about the value of the Subaru Loves to Care Program and it’s alignment with the mission of LLS. Thank you Dean Team Subaru for sharing the love and providing warm blankets to the children of Cardinal Glennon!

GATEWAY LLS teams up with DEAN TEAM SUBARU  –  Ruth D

On June 26, 2017, Dean Team Subaru drove 2 new Subaru Outbacks to the front door of SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St Louis, MO filled to the brim with cases of comfy blankets and fun craft kits! LLS Gateway Exec Dir, Debbie Kersting, and other LLS staff met Matthew Kuhn, Subaru Sales Mgr, Molly Dean-Newberry, Customer Relation Mgr, and Dana Anschutz, Office Mgr when they arrived, ready to spread warmth, love, and care! Cardinal Glennon staff, Aleeza and Allyson joined us and led our wagon train to the Costas Center. After unloading cases containing 80 blankets and 10 kits, we were treated to a tour of the facility. We were immediately impressed with the underwater themed oasis inpatient cancer unit! The Costas Center provides a comfortable setting for children to receive prolonged treatments, without having to be admitted to the hospital. The craft kits will definitely come in handy at the art/classroom. Gateway LLS has a special spot in our hearts for Cardinal Glennon, 3 of our honored heroes this year are patients there. Matthew gave Aleeza 25 care cards, bracelets, and extra Subaru items for the patients. We were all thanked numerous times by the staff and we thanked them for all they do every single day. Aleeza, Cardinal Glennon Social Worker/Case Mgr said, "We are so fortunate to receive such a generous donation from Subaru. Practical gifts such as these make hospital stays a little more comfortable for our courageous patients."

Another huge THANK YOU to our friends at Subaru!  –  Jen M

Subaru has come through once again! "We love that Subaru demonstrates their dedication to doing right by the environment every day. For more than ten years now, Subaru has been successfully maintaining a "zero-landfill" policy in their manufacturing plants, making Subaru a true leader in the auto industry when it comes to sustainability. That's exciting and important, but Subaru hasn't stopped there! Subaru has extended their zero-landfill initiative beyond their own walls and into the communities they serve." For another year, Subaru is helping to provide and promote zero-waste efforts at our largest annual event, The St. Louis Earth Day Festival. As a small, nonprofit organization, Subaru's sponsorship is indispensible. Not only does Subaru's partnership support waste-reduction services like recycling and composting, the assistance they provide helps make this large event possible for the St. Louis community. The mission of the St. Louis Earth Day Festival is to advance sustainability in the region through celebration, education and action. This fun, family-friendly event will take place on Sunday, April 24th, 2016 in Forest Park. Thanks again, Subaru! We look forward to seeing you there!

Howl-O-Ween Trunk or Treat at Dean Team Subaru!  –  Carrie W

Dean Team Subaru in Ballwin, MO (a suburb of St. Louis) partnered with Open Door Animal Sanctuary to host our first annual Howl-O-Ween Trunk or Treat on Friday night, October 30th, 2015. For a minimum of a $5 donation, participants could bring their dogs in their halloween costumes and fill up a bag of dog goodies (treats, toys and bones) from the trunks of new Subarus on display. The dogs also were able to play "bobbing for bones" and sniff for good smells in the pumpkin patch. We also held a costume contest for the over 50 dogs who participated with prizes (pet store gift cards) donated by the Dean Team and sold raffle tickets for dog goody baskets. The event made $650 for our dogs and cats at our shelter ($400 in donations and $250 from the Dean Team). We loved partnering on this fun event and plan to repeat it again next year and hold an adoption event in the Spring of 2016. Thank you to the Dean Team!

2014 Share The Love  –  Chris K

Subaru's commitment to helping make education accessible to everyone perfectly aligns with the mission of the St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) to bring hope, understanding and compassion to children so that they can reach their full potential. Through specialized services such as one-on-one tutoring, family advocacy and early childhood outreach, St. Louis LDA puts practical tools in the hands of children, teachers and parents to overcome learning disorders and tap into each child's natural intelligence, enabling them to flourish both academically and personally. In 2014, with Subaru's help, St. Louis LDA provided over $307,000 worth of free and reduced-rate services so that the kids most in need of educational and developmental support can become independent, confident learners and succeed, not only in the classroom, but for a lifetime. On behalf of these children and their families, we would like to thank Dean Team Subaru for their support through the annual Share the Love event. Subaru helps St. Louis LDA make a difference for thousands of kids in the St. Louis community! To learn more about St. Louis LDA, visit

Subaru Supports Zero Waste at Earth Day  –  Cassandra H

Subaru has a great reputation for making cars that support healthy and sustainable lifestyles, so when they approached us with an interest in sponsoring the Earth Day Festival, we knew it would be a great fit! Partnering with Subaru and area dealers has shown us how they have earned their reputation. Subaru will be supporting the zero-waste effort at the Earth Day Festival, where we implement numerous strategies, including working with vendors, volunteers and attendees to make sure all possible event waste is diverted from the landfill through reducing, reusing, recycling, and composting. With Subaru's support, St. Louis Earth Day is the most sustainably-produced outdoor festival in the region. The purpose of the Earth Day Festival is to advance sustainability in the region through celebration, education and action. Join us on Sunday April 26, 2015 to learn more about how you can "Share the Love" for the planet, people, and prosperity. Thank you, Dean Team Subaru!
