To help you understand the all-around versatility and functionality of the new 2019 Forester, we're going to compare it to the new Toyota RAV4, allowing you to see side by side why the new Forester is the ideal fit for you!

Subaru Forester vs. Toyota RAV4

  • Every new Forester model comes equipped with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, allowing you to enjoy optimal traction, handling and control both on the road and off it. The Toyota RAV4 comes with standard front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models will cost you more.
  • Speaking of that added cost, the Forester starts at $24,295 MSRP while the RAV4 starts at $24,660 MSRP. While that might not seem like a huge price difference, when you consider that the base RAV4 model with all-wheel drive starts at $26,060, allowing you to save plenty of money when you choose the new Forester with standard all-wheel drive instead.
  • The Forester offers a more powerful standard engine. Every new Forester model now comes equipped with an enhanced 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine that exerts 182-horsepower, while the new RAV4 falls short with its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 176-horsepower.
  • Even though the Forester offers a more powerful engine and standard all-wheel drive, it still achieves a higher estimated fuel economy than the new RAV4 does, offering up to 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, while the new RAV4 achieves up to 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
  • All new 2019 Forester models come equipped with a standard Starlink multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless connectivity and control of your mobile device while on the road. The new RAV4 also offers a standard Entune infotainment system, but it doesn't offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
  • Both vehicles offer an impressive suite of standard safety technology through their respective Subaru Eyesight Driver Assist Technology system and Toyota Safety Sense system. While many of the same safety features are offered throughout the lineup of both vehicles, only the Forester offers available LED steering responsive headlights.
  • The Forester is more spacious than the RAV4 is. The 2019 Forester now offers 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume and up to 76.1 cubic feet of cargo space when the rear seats are folded flat. The RAV4 falls short with 100.7 cubic feet of passenger volume and up to 73.4 cubic feet of cargo space.
